I love this India ink!

This is one of my favorite inks. It's lightfast, lays down smoothly and can be used with a dip pen or a brush without issue. I prefer pigment based inks instead of dye based inks so the Bombay line is my go to. Just be aware that the white ink is more opaque so if you mix white into other Bombay colors you will get a slightly opaque mix. Also, I would recommend giving the bottle a few gentle shakes prior to using since the pigment likes to drop to the bottom. But don't shake too hard or the ink will be full of bubbles.

Color is muddy with green/grey undertones. Quite a glossy finish when dry. Walnut ink is far more beautiful, gives better hairlines, and better variation in color.

The color is pleasing and gives a subtle variation. However, it is quite glossy when dry.
Love these inks!

I love Dr. Martin's Bombay India inks -- been using them for years! They're waterproof, and are so great to use on different surfaces (slick papers, vellum, porous papers) -- no smearing! I'm so bad at mixing gouache, so these are a great product for me and my dip pens. I love to mix the inks as well, for a dual color effect. I use these so often, esp. with my folded pens. And I've had a lot of my colors for YEARS, and they're STILL good! The only "complaint" for me, is when trying to photograph a finished piece, at certain angles they photograph "shiny". But minor annoyance. Great price too!

Wonderful ink, right out of the bottle, with great flow for dip pen calligraphy.
